Tomorrow is “Carnival Tuesday” in Trinidad, and just a few days ago, in the early hours of Saturday morning, during the Fantastic Friday celebrations and competition, soca legend Machel Montano retained the Power Soca Monarch title. Yes folks, we are in the midst of Caw-nah-val!
On many Caribbean islands it is a very exciting time of year.
We are coming to the end of 2015 Carnival celebrations on islands like Dominica, Martinique, Trinidad, Aruba, and Carriacou and Petite Martinique (Grenada), just to name a few. While in April and May we will be lusting after the colors of Carnivals in Jamaica, St. Maarten and Antigua. Grenada will heat up the summer with their explosion of calypso and soca in July, as seen in these photos by Gerenada based photographer, Andy Johnson. While Barbados will round out the summer with their Crop Over.
All these exciting celebration makes one want to plot a Carnival hopping calendar.
We hope you will make it to at least one Carnival celebration in 2015. We certainly will.
