It sounds like it would be a large and busy town, being the Capital of Exuma, Bahamas, but George Town is thankfully, and beautifully, small and unruffled. With close proximity to Little Exuma, delightful and secluded beaches, chill spots like the Chat N Chill Bar, as well as historic landmarks like the Pompey Memorial, this relaxed and unpretentious town has a lot to offer.
If it’s fresh seafood you are after, then Georgetown and, Exuma on a whole, has a lot to spare. With an abundance of delicious lobster, grouper, and conch (among other sea life treats), your craving for seafood options will be satisfied in town, or at one of the many dining options surrounding George Town.
Or maybe you want to catch a ferry or hire a boat to dine. That’s a pretty cool option too. There are ferries and hired boats that will take you to surrounding out islands to dine, walk the famous sand bars, or to just explore some of the smaller chain of islands. Upbeat dining can be found back on the mainland at Peace & Plenty, Two Turtles Inn, as well as Eddie’s Edgewater.
During the day you can be guaranteed a great walk through town among markets, shops, restaurants, and a relaxing atmosphere. You’ll be exploring with yachters, beach goers, divers, and water babies alike who enjoy Georgetown just as much as we do.
